The Bridge is Finished!!!!!

Can you believe it? It only took 5 years, 2 years longer than the original completion date. Oh and get this the contractors got a bonus. I am not sure but I heard from a few that it was $90,000.00. I sure hope not. I can not imagine getting a bonus for not finishing on time. Oh well, it sure is pretty. Here are a few shots from this morning. I really like the fog in background as it was rolling away from the river.

It's High School Football Season

Well, I decided to try my hand at football/sports photojournalism. I had a blast and it helped that it was Junior Football League (JFL) night so I had to be there as my daughter is now a JFL cheerleader (there were 80 little girls on the field at half time. Kindergarten to sixth grade. Madness, but they were oh so adorable). So, thought I would practice. I used my 200mm 3.5 Tokina manual focus lens, my Sigma 70-300mm 4-5.6 manual focus lens and my Oly 40-150mm auto focus lens. It is really hard to get used to focusing my shots but I am enjoying it. I have to really think about a shot and compose in my head so that I can quickly focus. But it is a reward in itself when I get a good shot. I saw that kids get crazy about their teams as evidenced by the line of shirtless high schoolers. I wonder will they go shirtless when its colder. Oh well. And oh yeah, Ashland won.

Central Park

I love living here and yesterday morning this is what I saw as I was taking the kids to school. The light was just falling perfecting through the trees in the park. It was a beautiful peaceful scene. I had to stop. There is nothing more ethereal than an empty playground with an amazing light display. Posted by Picasa

The Bridge is still out

Okay, so an update on the bridge crossing the Ohio river from South Shore, KY to Portsmouth, OH. Nope, it is not finished. It was supposed to be finished two years ago October. It is not. They had announced that it would possibly be finished July of this year. It is still not finished. So, it looks like October of this year is the final estimated finish date. The contractors say they are just finishing up some minor adjustments. But who knows. It sure looks done to me. But then again, I am not engineer. So, here is the bridge in IR and natural. Posted by Picasa

Nature, Nature, Nature

Okay, I have been so focused on building my photography business that I was forgetting what I love about photography. I took a few minutes on my way home to pick up the kids from school to fire off a few shots. The flowers and butterfly were at the entrance to the Administration building on my way out the door. The trees were in Lloyd, Kentucky. I was cutting threw a short cut to get back to US 52 and saw these trees and bails of hay. I really liked it. So, I stopped really quick.

Actions

Playing around with new actions. The Kuboto actions. I really liked how these turned out. This first is a cross process and of course sloppy borders. I have fallen in love with the look of slppy borders. The second shot is an action called skin cream with another one called chocolate (I think). I really like the sort of high-key look and feel of that one. Posted by Picasa

Neil and Beckie

What a great wedding and couple. This was the blending of two families. Their joy was so evident. Family and friends were obviously over joyed as were their children. If you want to see their slideshow with a preview of what is to come, click on thier name above.
